Chu seok - Oct 2nd, is Korea's Thanksgiving day. A major event akin to CNY. All koreans will travel back to their hometown causing massive traffic jams and railroad tickets snapped up months ago. Since I have 3D of holiday and I certainly do not want to stay in Seoul. I need to escape the concrete and neons to a place with trees, skies and mountains.
Gyeonggi-do is an interesting province with mountains and waterfalls. With the help of my senior, I bought tickets to Gapyeong county. We travelled to Cheongnyangni subway and changed to KORAIL (7am) for our 1 hr ride to Gapyeong. Ticket cost KRW4000/way. Cheap.
Gapyeong is a countryside with lots of mountains and lack of subway and buses. You have to wait at least 15mins for a bus. To save time, taking a taxi to Gapyeong Wharf is wiser.
Namiseom (filiming site of Winter Sonata) is a small flat outlying island near Gapyeong. Many thanks to Bae Yong Joon, Namiseom becomes a top attraction and a must-go for K-drama addicts. Ajummas of all nationality seem to love BYJ. For me, Namiseom is a romantic place especially during winter! Wow! You can play snowball fights over those wide grass patches and skiing too! Haha I'm planning to bring my family over there! We can all play snowballs irregardless of age. ^^
We finished our tour round the island by noon. The island is small and you can finish within half a day. I'm glad we went early as throngs of tourists (HK, Taiwan, China) came after noon and I do not like my photos to contain strangers. I just want the trees and ME! haha they are like a speck of dirt which I can't edit away or rather I'm terrible at IT-related stuff. You can tell from my blog skin. haha.
The weather is cold. I regret not bringing jeans. Luckily I bought my grandpa's red beanie.
Yes! The cute red beanie belongs to my grandpa!! Isn't he cool? He has cool antique shades and pageboy cap too!! 'Raiding' his cupboard alwys end up w unexpected findings. ^o^
Imagine a snow-clad path....
Winter sonata...it is suppose to be romantic...haha not peek-a-boo
