I LOVE SNOWBOARDING!!! YEA!!! =D
For me, snowboarding is exciting and easier to pick up as compared to skiing.
Pei Fong extended her conference till 26/11 and we had so much fun catching up.
Time flies...How I miss my friends....
It was funny how we never met up before I came to Korea but once we saw each other, it was like yesterday. We were laughing and crying at the same time.
That was when I realise how much I kept my emotions under control...
We had fun drinking and shopping and sightseeing. I feel like a tourist once again =)
Due to her weird request of wanting to ski during late autumn, we went to Pine resort. Haha of course there were no snow and the slopes are made out of artificial snow which feels more like ICE.
We had a package of lift + snow board for KRW 40,000/pax from 1300-1700. 50% discount coz its non-peak. ^^
We fell like crazy and were bruised all over BUT! We had a great time & now I can board abit though I lose my balance once it goes too fast. The feeling of the cold wind rushing against your face and the flying sensation is exhilarating.
I want to master snowboarding and ice skating at the end of this Winter.

Stress
Such a busy week filled with tons of conference, presentations and reports.
International symposium on inflammation and redox signaling organised by my professor.
Because it is organised by our lab, we have to prepare EVERYTHING for the seminar. From procurement of refreshments, making of name tags for registered guests and speakers and pasting posters and direction tags around SNU.
Wednesday was the start of the preparation and I had to stay till 8+pm justt waiting around for them to decide what to let me help out. I really hate it when they discuss in korean and we ( foreigners) stand aside just waiting for their delegation. It feels kinda idiot to me.
So nowdays, if they don't speak to me in English, I will just go back to my seat. And instead of korean, I'm speaking to them in English. Its really annoying when its apparent that my korean is not that good yet they keep rumbling to me in korean. Esp when delegating tasks! Its not that I dislike communicating in korean, there is a time and place for everything. I stayed till 8+pm and obviously my temper is not good and here you come yakking to me in Korean wasting our time because I take 5mins to figure out what the heck you are trying to ask me to do.
Simple things that can be accomplished within 1min requires 5mins. I really don't like doing things slow. How ironical. Korean culture is FAST FAST FAST. But when it boils down to serious stuff, I find that they spend most of their time discussing instead of doing.
Alright, so I waited till 8+ only to hear, ok you can go home cause they were also confused and do not know what to do. I am totally emotionless and they said I look depressed recently.
Haha well. I'm not really that bubbly and lively when the night falls and I'm still in the lab. Its not depression I wana tell them. Its stress and the 'I don't understand what the hell they are thinking' emotion.

Sometimes I will have a tinge of regret on pursuing Masters... Its so lifeless and no freedom. I couldn't even take 2 days of leave!!
MSc students are 365 DAYS in the freaking lab.
I feel sad when people around me cannot understand the difficulties of me applying day off from lab. Korean culture is different. I have to report to lab even on Sat.
So pls do not ask me when I have classes or school or wadever shit.
I am in school 365 DAYS 930AM - 6PM ( though I predict more OTs)
I really hope my friends and family can visit me but it is beyond my control to be able to accompany them throughout.

I LOVE RAW BEEF + RAW EGGS! KRW 30,000 in Sadang. Slices of raw abalone, beef and oysters. I'm gng to bring my papa here. He'll love it I guess ^^

Our home-cook food. Xiao bai cai w oyster sauce and mushroom, stir-fried pork and capsicum in black bean paste, fried egg omelette with cheese, carrots, onions, spring onions. Ya hoo! Taste so at home. I'm planning to cook Nasi Lemak soon! =D
Fried chicken in Seoul is different! So nice & cooked to perfection! Totally no image coz I'm starving & freezing after Hangang.

Sub zero degrees and maximum temperature is lower than 10! You call this autumn?!!
Its really freezing nowadays. No joke. For those coming and thinking I'm exaggerating. haha I have nothing to say except, come here & experience it yourself.
I have boycott ALL the jackets I brought frm Spore and all the cottony tees. Tts y I need to SHOP again for WOOLEN or knitted THICK clothings. I will be good and buy a dwn jacket despite it super ugly appearance.
Even the locals are exclaiming COLD! Chu wor yo!
It is so cold that my hands and feet goes numb & even with 3 layers of wool, it is still COLD. Not to mention I wore woolen turtleneck too!
The fault lies in the wind. When the wind blows, I feel like curling up in a corner and die. Maybe thats why the little matchgirl died. Too cold till she doesn't even feel like moving.
Now there are 2 seasons I dislike- Summer & Winter. haha.
After I see my first snow, I think I'm going to dread winter ALOT. Every morning is a hassle planning what to wear and I MUST cover all exposed areas like neck, hands, feet, face, ear.
Not to mention I need to travel to SNU during winter =(
When will it snow? How will I feel?

KRW 150,000 Rabbit fur+ wool coat. I adore this coat! But too atas so I'm having trouble mixing basics w it. I need a MAROON neck warmer! haha. I wanted to wear my red heels w this but I sprained my ankle the moment I slipped it on. I lost the high heels skill. =(
Woolen dress for layering and I like the ribbon beanie. I kinda regret buying the dress. It has no color & makes me feel so sad and not me at all. HOW!!
Etude hse NEW RELEASE mascara. So cheap and comes in a promo pack with cotton pads and lash clipper. Less den SGD20. I have used it. Quite good but abit heavy hence it tend to smudge at the end of the day.

I have never attempted so many roller coster rides EVER in my life. I sat on Atlantis adventure, Viking, Space adventure thingy. For a NORMAL person, these may not even suffice but for a WEAK hearted being like me, I think I have exceeded my quota for 3 years!
I was quite amazed by myself too! Haha I thought I will die on Atlantis adventure with their near 90 degree inclination flume ride and super fast speed. Surprisingly, the ride was not as scary as I predicted it to be. I think maybe its due to the lightning speed so it won't leave your heart hanging in the mid air ( I rem Jurassic Park in USA, my god...So slow tt I cried and almost wet my pants haha).
Viking is totally shitty & I swear I will box anyone who asked me to sit Viking AGAIN! Inclination not as high as Atlantis Adventure but the speed is so slow! My heart fell mid-air & got lost. haha.

I absolutely love the indoor skating ring! White, clean & spacious! Unlike the lousy and small one in Spore. The sight of it don't even makes me feel like walking on it, needless to say skate.
Alright, I do not know how to skate but I MUST learn it! Haha within these mths! Including snow-boarding! ( I hope I can~)

Oh oh! Did I mention that during Winter there will be an OUTDOOR ice skating ring! I think its the one featured in Boys Over Flowers!! I am going there to look for Lee Min Ho due to requests. Haha though his popularity is losing its heat nowadays.
There are so many things I want to do within these 2 years but I do not have enough time!
1. Tour North Korea, China, Inner Mongolia & Russia. Yes, I MUST go to N.K.
2. Climb Hallasan, Jirisan & Bukhansan & eat ramen + seaweed soup on the summit! But winter is soo cold =(
3. Visit Cheongdam-do. Filiming site of Spring Sonata. The untouched island coz quite inaccessible.
4. JAPAN! Hokkaido! I must be an idiot not to visit Japan while I'm here.
haha I want to backpack!! Give me more time and money!!

L.O.V.E
No, I am not in love.
I am just happy ^^
I will not use love to describe because it takes a lifetime to know what love is.
I cannot promise how long we can last. Hm...doesn't this statement sounds scary? But for me, its the truth. I don't like to give empty words based on nothing. But that doesn't mean I don't treat this seriously.
I don't see the need to express myself verbally about how I feel.
Things I hear, I will compare it with actions. One can say I like you everyday, but your actions states otherwise. One can say I hope we can be together forever, yes you should just keep that 'hope' but don't expect it to happen.
This is the reason why I have not much reaction towards such statements.
I am so unromantic, practical and unfeminine. I don't squeal with delight when told such sentences.

''Hm..oh ok. haha.''
I dislike sweet words expecially concentrated ones.
I like things simple yet it may seem complex & contradicting to ppl .
Anyone understand what I am talking about? haha.
So, yes I am happy being around with my friend and I am happy I met him & I think he should be happier that he can meet me cause I am so cute! ^o^

Anyong! Happy Pepero Day! ^o^
Pepero Day is akin to Valentines Day in Korea and couples/friends will exchange gifts (usually Pepero sticks).
Because 11/11 remsembles Pepero sticks hence, that's how this day came about.
Lotte Pepero sticks are the original and if I am not wrong, Lotte came up with this idea.
Smart marketing.
Unsurprisingly, Japan tried to come up with Pocky Day but failed due to poor response.
Koreans take this day seriously.
Seniors gave me pepero.
Vendors gave us boxes of pepero.
My korean friend asked me if I receive pepero.
Many stalls are selling pepero gift baskets with bears n flowers.
Koreans really have many 'Valentines' to celebrate. In additon, they have V-day, white day & black day.
V-Day: Feb 14 Valentines. Needless to explain.
White Day: Mar 14 Guys will receive chocs frm their gf as a token of love.
Black day: Apr 14 aka Jajangmyeon day is the most hilarious and absurb day I have ever heard of. Singles who don't receive anything will gather together and drown their sorrows by eating jajangmyeong which is black in color, hence the name. Sometimes, stalls might even offer free noodles for singles. Haha I will scout for such stalls on that day! ^^
Is that why 99.9999% of korean guys are attached? Sometimes I wonder if they really like each other or just for the company and not to feel left out during these weird occasion.
I must go research more. This is interesting- their youngster culture.

Fashion Nerd
I am so tired~
Followed my senior to perform in house bred mice genotyping. Cut a tiny portion of the mice tail and perform PCR.
60 mice. 2hours.
I m officially brain dead. I realise I can doze off while standing. =(
I have come to a saturation point of the outfits I can wear for winter. HOW!! Someone pls give me inspiration!! I have been browsing through Lookbook.nu and absolutely adore their dressing but they dress in shorts and sleeveless. Isn't it cold?!
Its single digit here. And I am freezing my ass off in my leather jacket that somehow traps the cold air.
I want to change my style to.....COOL? haha my sister used to tell me its impossible becoz of my face....WTH. But I really want to try the Coco Chanel style.

Followed my senior to perform in house bred mice genotyping. Cut a tiny portion of the mice tail and perform PCR.
60 mice. 2hours.
I m officially brain dead. I realise I can doze off while standing. =(
I have come to a saturation point of the outfits I can wear for winter. HOW!! Someone pls give me inspiration!! I have been browsing through Lookbook.nu and absolutely adore their dressing but they dress in shorts and sleeveless. Isn't it cold?!
Its single digit here. And I am freezing my ass off in my leather jacket that somehow traps the cold air.
I want to change my style to.....COOL? haha my sister used to tell me its impossible becoz of my face....WTH. But I really want to try the Coco Chanel style.

Hongdae- Drink, Club, Dance
Halloween celebration.
Venue: Hongik University (Hongdae station)
Weather: Rain rain go away!
Hongdae is a popular place for clubbing, food and shopping! Not to mention people watching. The people here dress to the nines and they seem to party every day of the week. There are so many clubs and pubs to choose from! More than Lan Kwai Fong and Clarke Quay! =D
Due to the rain, we decided to visit the norebang to 'hide' from the torrents. Norebang has amazing decor and it doesn't look like a KTV from outside. More like a hotel. haha tts y we missed our way. They have percussions and is decorated in teddy bear theme. Nice!!
KRW10,000/ room / hour. Quite cheap. No additional hidden charges like copyright fee. But drinks and tidbits you can purchase at your own will.
We sang for 3hrs! Haha and the rain stopped.
Song collections: Hm... Jap, Korean, Vietnam, Chinese ( a very thin book), english.
Chinese songs are quite limited but still ok. Mostly are oldies but amazingly they have Jay Zhou, Jolin Tsai, A-mei (Ting hai) haha... I sang my fav '' Shang Hai Tang'' in CANTO!!
I MISS CANTOPOP!!! =(=(=(
I want to visit HK agn!! I MUST!
We roamed ard Hongdae and went to search for the 3rd best ramen hse in Seoul.
Not Shin ramen. Japanese ramen.
I ate only twice Shin ramen here. I don't like maggie mee. Period.
After meal we went to a dart pub for liquor. Throwing darts is so difficult. Mine alwys land on the floor or aimless. haha.
It is still drizzling but the night is young with all the party-goers dressed in Halloween costumes. We decided to hit the club as I remember one stating:
'FREE ENTRANCE FOR FOREIGNER'.
Not too much difference btw Spore clubs except maybe the dressing style. They can wear heels inches high. Wow. I worn once b4 and almost got crippled the following day.
I admire their ''die in high-heels'' spirit.

Marinated eggs with sweet taste. I MISS EGGS! =( Tea leaf egg, half-boiled egg, sunny side up!

Motels in SNU area
I am tired by 8pm. Dusk set by 6pm. haha I m lazy!! But its true! My circadian cycle seems to reprogram me to sleep before 10pm.
haha HOW!! Winter will be worse. 4pm sun down and I will still be stuck in the lab for another 2 hrs! zzz.
Suddenly I wish I had just took up Masters by coursework. haha. NORMAL student life.
Anyway! Friends and family told me to check up accomodation in my area. Let me give you a brief description of where I stay:
Subway: Seoul National University Station ( tell this to the locals & they won't comprehend. It is call 'Seouldae yip-gu')
Vibrant with lotsa eateries, bars, bbq stalls, shopping mall, and not forgetting MOTELS.
Why are there so many motels near student area? Use your imagination...
I really dread walking inside those motels because its quite sleazy with all the neon lights and hm...ajussi... I walked into this motel and the staff could not speak a word of english.
No reservation. Isang. Walk-in only. Haha after tt I realise, oh of coz...they have walk-in customers every min.
So I asked this couple (Korean FYI) to help me to translate. The girl used her limited eng & tried while the stupid bf keeps on calling out to her from the hotel room to faster (PA LI WA!!!) Not once, but 3X! -.-
WTH.
Can't you just WAIT for a SEC?!! So the gf was abit rushed & anxious. Seeing that isang situation, I told her I can manage on my own.
Digusted.
The culture in Korea is very unique. I used to think that they are very conservative and traditional.
Hell no. If you go to their clubbing areas and motels, you will be atonished. I shld stay in the motel for 2 days and observe their culture. It is really interesting ^^

I HOPE IT SNOWS TODAY!! =D
Weather forecast states -4 - 7 with 30% chances of snowing!! Yipee!
Why am I so happy when my clothes are 100% cotton?!
Seoul is an ICE CUBE or rather COLD ROOM. The sun is a deception.
Yesterday I forgot my beanie and my head throbbed like mad. Its was so cold that I don't feel like going outdoors.
While walking home, I have the urge to run but its like my legs are frozen on the spot. Hm...how do I describe that feeling? haha too cold so I can't even run though I want to. You will realise everyone walking with their heads bent. The wind (pa ram) is so strong. >.<
I wore 3 layers of clothes, scarf, socks, 2 pj pants to bed and not forgetting my blanket which covers till my head HA JIMAN! I woke up at 3am again!!! TOO COLD!!! Help! =( =(
I realise you have to get clothes which are WOOLEN/KNITTED and TIGHT. Time for me to buy PJs which are Non-cotton. haha.
Reason for this blog is because I am to bored and my lunch menu is not nice- as usual.
Beef soup with only 3 beef strips. I have been eating so little bap during lunch =(
Maybe I can diet abit for the coming winter since there'll be lotsa streetsnacks during winter! Yahoo! =D

Freezing
It is COLD...Freezing cold... -1 degree with strong wind that sends a chill down your spine and numb your heart.
wahaha so action. But its TRUE!
Being indoors gives me the false impression that the weather is still ok until I step outside and the cold wind slaps the reality in my face.
I LOVE my neck warmer!! Haha neck warmer is the best thing when you have nothing to cover your nose, mouth and ears!! =D
I am still cold despite 3 layers and my head is throbbing due to the stupid wind =(
Ok, my adventures this week:
Hongdae University area for Norebang and drinking and clubbing...But it was a rainy Sat day. I love Pina Colada! =D Actually gimme anything with EtOH I like!!! (except lab's 70%)
Freezing Sunday-Daehangro, another vibrant university area (Yonsei, SNU Medical) for movie in CGV.
''Time Traveller's Wife'' by Rachel McAdams. Her previous classic love movie is ''The Notebook''.
Timeless love.
Its take a moment to fall in love, but it takes a lifetime to know what love is....

Sometimes I feel like you're the eldest. haha OK. I tend to LET you be the eldest coz you have a cry baby as an elder sis right? haha =D
''Unni!! Come back for dinner tonight. I cook nice food!!!'' A simple sms, a simple sentence but full of warmth. If I'm not bck for dinner, I will find nicely packed lunch box in the fridge for my following day lunch...
Those nights we gather in my room to discuss our problems, chat and crap around... The night you slept in my room in a sleeping bag (well..tts really hilarious)
Dear sister, I know you are mentally strong but sometimes things can get too stressful...Don't bottle up, you can share with me... Its unfair to you to bear everything by yourself =) Don't keep things from me because I'm in korea and you don't want to cause me worries. Your sister is not Mc Dull ok! what have we not been through right?
I must apologise for missing the past few days that you have to search for your unni through msn and fb... haha ppl must be thinking your sister likes to play hide-and-seek ^_^
Will we still be as close and as crappy when we grow up & lead separate lives?
Will we still be able to gather on a single bed and chat till dawn?
I don't know whats the future like but I want you as my sister again and again and again (haha sounds familiar?) Alright I'll let you be the eldest =)
